What do I need to get into the Road Ryder course?
You must attain a BC Class 6L or 8L motorcycle license. The knowledge test is offered at any ICBC Drivers Service Centre, at a fee of $15. The multiple choice test is based on material from the ICBC training manual Learn to ride smart.
What type of gear do I need for the practical training?
Road Ryders supplies a DOT full face helmet, high visibility safety vest, rain gear and a motorcycle. You are required to bring ankle high boots, gloves and rain gear if necessary. Minimum requirements is denim and must completely cover all of the arms and legs. Please note that motorcycle specific gear is best, but bring the best you can afford.
Is your school certified to perform the Motorcycle Skills Assessment (MSA) ?
Yes, we are a fully licensed and certified motorcycle training facility.
What is the MSA?
The Motorcycle Skills Assessment is a motor vehicle handling test. If you qualify this will allow the removal of the supervision and speed restrictions on your learner's license.
What is the MST?
The Motorcycle Skills Test is virtually the same as the MSA but it is performed at ICBC Drivers Services.
Do you train for the road test?
Yes, it is part of the curriculum. We do most of the road riding as a group, but we incorporate a 2hr private or semi private session preparing for the final road test.
Is there communication during road training?
Yes, we use up to date bike to bike communication devices.
Who maintains your motorcycle fleet?
All motorcycle maintenance and repair is performed by a certified motorcycle technician.
How big are your classes?
The most we will have is 5 students.
I've never ridden a motorcycle before, is this for me?
This course is designed for people that have little or no riding experience. Prior or during registration we will be asking you several questions to determine which class would be most beneficial to you. We offer several options for training.
Do you provide a motorcycle for the road test?
Certainly, the bike will be of your choosing, and we welcome you to come early and get a warm up ride in.
What do I need to get my full Class 6 license?
Passing the knowledge test at Drivers Services will get you a 6L learner's license, next step is to successfully complete the MSA/MST and finally the road test with ICBC. If you are in the GLP there are a few extra steps. Please note that you can not take your road test within 30 days of taking your knowledge test.
Do the classes run in the rain?
We go rain or shine; classes will be postponed if safety is compromised.
Can I use my own bike for the road test?
Yes if you choose to. Our bikes are available at no cost to our students.
Is the price of the road test included in the course?
No, the road test is performed with ICBC and the fee is the responsibility of the student.
How much is your complete course?
$700 plus applicable taxes. Payable by Visa/Master Card or Cash.

What do you charge for private lessons?
You have several options, $60 for 1hr, includes bike and instructor. If you would like 2 or more hrs, rate is $50 per hr, includes bike and instructor. Private lessons using your own bike are $40 per hr.
What size motorcycles do you train on?
We have 250cc up to 500cc.
How old are your motorcycles?
2003 and newer.
